K&L Gates has added a three-lawyer team in the complex commercial litigation and disputes practice in Paris, becoming the latest major player to bolster its team in the French capital.
Barthélemy Cousin joins as a partner from Stephenson Harwood, where he practiced for seven years and founded and led the dispute resolution practice. He previously practiced for 13 years at Norton Rose Fulbright, rising to partner. He brings two associates with him.
Cousin is a specialist in insurance law and has extensive litigation experience in Africa, according to his firm biography.
“We are very happy to welcome Barthélemy and his team,” Louis Degos, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Paris office, said in a statement. “His arrival adds a particularly notable practice of insurance law disputes, which is a major and growing area in our firm.
John Magnin, a London-based leader of the firm’s commercial litigation practice area, added that Cousin’s skills and client base would “dovetail with our flourishing global disputes offering across all his areas of practice.”
The arrival of Cousin’s team brings K&L Gates’ Paris office to 15 lawyers, including six partners.
